CHELSEA FLOWER SHOW

After previously working with residents to build the first Chelsea garden based on social housing green space we have been asked to convert one of our shipping containers into an office/studio for the ‘New Wild Garden’ at Chelsea in 2011.

We were delighted to have been chosen to exhibit at the Chelsea Flower Show in 2007, and proud to have won a Silver Gilt medal.

We hoped it would encourage other Estates to take a fresh look at their green spaces. We entered the garden working closely with the Board of Tenants from the Clapham Park Estate. The residents were very supportive and involved all the way through the process, and many came to Chelsea and manned the garden during the show.

We would also like to thank our other sponsors Natural England, Pictorial Meadows, Neighbourhoods Green and Green Estates. Thanks to everyone for making the week such a success.

The garden is designed by our friend Nigel Dunnett, working with the Landscape Agency. We built the container off site and it was delivered to the garden on the first Sunday of the build complete with green roof and habitat wall.	Here is our container being picked from the stack, soon to become the blue centre piece of Nigel’s garden. Uniquely, after the show, the whole building will be picked up, put on a lorry and taken to its final destination, the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust site at Slimbridge. Another first for Chelsea.
